And of those who has refused to let the matter rest is PKR supreme council member Badrul Hisham Shaharin, who has thought of everything from a mock funeral procession to a birthday cake.
On Tuesday, Badrul struck again during a ceramah in the run-up to the Penanti by-election, where he urged the police to haul up all those involved in the case.Yesterday, he was slapped with a police order requesting him to be present at the district police headquarters.
The order was served at his residences in Seremban and Bangi.
Former school teacher Badrul, who is fondly known as 'Chegu Bard', suspects that it is related to his remarks made at the ceramah.
In a blog posting, the fiery orator also raised the possibility of being charged under the Sedition Act.
Mock funeral procession
When contacted, Badrul said he would report to the Central Seberang Perai district police headquarters in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam today.
During the ceramah, the PKR leader had also raised the much taboo subject of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's link to the scandal.
"When the prime minister is implicated in such a crime, the country is at risk of being controlled by foreign powers. We risk international condemnation," he told the audience.Previously, the PKR leader had threatened to hold a mammoth nationwide mock funeral procession for the slain Mongolian national if Najib failed to sue the international media organisations that linked the latter to the crime.
Consisting of a convoy of cars and trucks carrying a coffin of Altantuya's effigy, the procession was supposed to be held from Rembau to Penanti during the by-election campaign.
He gave the Penanti nomination day last Saturday as the deadline for Najib to file the civil suit.
Although the premier did not do so, Badrul however dropped the idea after Umno decided not to contest in the Penanti by-election.
Now, he is contemplating on staging the mock funeral procession during July’s Manek Urai by-election - this time kicking off from Najib's Pekan parliamentary stronghold to the Kelantan state constituency.
Early this month, Badrul caused another furore when he attempted to present Najib with an Altantuya birthday cake at his office in Putrajaya.
The police however seized the cake and detained the PKR leader for questioning. He was released a few hours later.
Najib has repeatedly denied any involvement in the matter, but the speculations refused to die. The Altantunya case has become the biggest weapon in the opposition’s arsenal.
PKR information chief Latheefa Koya said Khairy has undermined the country's democratic process which allows the people the freedom to elect their representatives.
She pointed out that his statement has breached the Election Offences Act.
"No one can cause obstruction through physical means or statements, directly or indirectly, on voters from exercising their democratic rights," she told a press conference in Penanti today.
Allegations have also surfaced in recent days that Umno was organising free chartered bus trips to ferry voters to border towns in Padang Besar, Bukit Kayu Hitam and Wang Kelian.
BN and Umno were also alleged to be carrying out a whisper campaign to stop voters from casting their ballots on polling day.
At the same press conference, PKR election director Saifuddin Nasution accused Umno of misusing government departments in the by-election campaign.
He cited a public forum organised two days ago by the special affairs department of the Information Ministry at Guar Perahu, an Umno area in Penanti, as an example of such abuse.
The main speaker at the forum was Umno Youth exco member Lokman Adam, who is a former PKR leader.
'Police harassment'
Saifuddin also alleged that a police team had gone to a PKR member's house at 2am two days ago to record his statement after the man allowed a Pakatan public dialogue session to be held in his house in Mengkuang.
PKR has also accused BN of manipulating certain segments of the media to highlight petty issues and give prominence to independent candidates Aminah Abdullah, Nai Khan Ari and Kamarul Ramizu Idris.Yesterday, PKR workers purportedly spotted local Gerakan leaders campaigning for Nai Khan, a former local Gerakan leader himself, during a rally in Teluk Wang.
The last few days saw Pakatan heavyweights such as Anwar Ibrahim, Nik Aziz Nik Mat, Abdul Hadi Awang, Husam Musa, Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, Azmin Ali, Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng calling on voters to throng in numbers to the polling booths to cast their votes for PKR candidate Mansor Othman.
PKR aims for at least a 70 percent voter turnout which could assure Mansor a thumping victory.
