KUALA LUMPUR : Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM)’s president and political activist Badrul Hisham Shahrin said he did not have any personal ‘vendetta’ against PKR deputy president Azmin Ali but is merely against the latter’s action of dishonesty that goes against the party’s principle of democracy.
“I am not against Azmin as character, but against the act of dishonesty in the inner elections that are against the party’s principle of democracy,” Badrul who is better known as Chegubard The Mole in a telephone interview.
Chegubard was contacted following a recent blog entry by The Unspinners regarding the his post on Facebook that "exposed" Azmin, who is also MP for Gombak, of vote-rigging in the PKR party election in Batang Sadong in 2010 and also Chegubard’s discontent with the party’s election committee (JPP-Jawatankuasa Pemilihan PKR) for not practising a ‘clean’ election in the party.
“I am sticking by with what I have said before in my blog and what I have posted on the social media,” he added.
Meanwhile, a memorandum was sent by disgruntled members of PKR led by Chegubard, to the deputy of JPP, Datin Paduka Dr Tan Yee Kew at the party’s headquarters earlier this evening.
Chegubard said it was good that JPP’s chairman Datuk Johari Abdul is making an effort to investigate the issue and said that an announcement would be made soon to explain the situation on the upcoming PKR party election.
Prior to this, Chegubard clarified that SAMM was not involved in the PKR party election issue and have demanded Berita Harian to correct the report that he was misquoted in or face legal action.
He previously claimed that he had found photo and video evidence of vote tampering allegedly involving Azmin.
It was reported that Chegubard had also urged JPP and the Central Leadership Council (MPP) to take stern action by disqualifying Azmin from running in the PKR elections.
PKR's de-facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also reportedly said that he fully supported the committee's investigation into vote-rigging claims at the Batang Sadong division in Sarawak.
"I have full trust and confidence towards the committee. We will not tolerate any election fraud. We will not cover up for anybody," he said.
Anwar said that unlike the Election Commission (EC), the party election committee was "truly independent" and was not aligned to any candidate contesting in the ongoing party polls.
