PETALING JAYA: Another PKR leader has been given a show-cause letter for tarnishing the party’s image.
Mustaffa Kamil Ayub (pic) was given 10 days to explain why action should not be taken against him for allegedly tarnishing the party’s image during the recent party elections.
He admitted receiving the show-cause letter but declined further comment.
The former Perak PKR chief had in November sent a memorandum to the party leadership calling for a thorough investigation into allegations of fraud and manipulation during the recent PKR party elections.
Mustaffa was involved in a three-cornered fight with Datuk Zaid Ibrahim and Azmin Ali for the deputy presidency.
Zaid pulled out during the third week of the race and subsequently quit the party, citing discrepancies in the election system, but Mustaffa stayed put and called for a thorough investigation into the allegations.
Another complainant, K.S. Kottapan, who lodged a police report against a state executive councillor for alleged physical abuse, was also expelled from the party earlier this month.
“I was a victim, but the party leadership chose to expel me from the party without even giving me a fair hearing,” said Kottapan.
Another party stalwart Badrul Hisham Shahrin, popularly known as Chegubard, hoped that justice would prevail in the party.
“I too have lodged complaints about party elections. Until now, I have yet to be called to facilitate investigations,” he said. - the star
